10 Warning Signs of a Weak Culture of Quality


Research presented in a recent study from Forbes Insights, in association with ASQ, “Culture of Quality: Accelerating Growth and Performance in the Enterprise,” shows clearly that instilling and maintaining a true culture of quality helps an organization attain its quality goals, while the lack of such a culture hinders its performance.

Yet culture is in the eye of the beholder, and some senior executives may unintentionally view it through rose-colored glasses. One of the intriguing findings in the study’s global survey of almost 2,300 executives and managers is the consistent divergence between senior executives and quality professionals. Senior executives tend to assess their own organization’s culture of quality in much more positive, less critical terms than do quality managers and engineers, who are much closer to the nitty-gritty.
