The Weights and Measures Division introduces NIST Handbook 155, Weights and Measures Program Requirements: A Handbook for the Weights and Measures Administrator. This is a guide for those wanting to learn about the weights and measures system and was developed to be used as a reference tool. The document can be read cover to cover, or accessed in sections to research a specific topic.
This handbook is based in part on the previous NBS Handbook 82, last published in 1962, and is published as part of our effort to capture historical knowledge and experience. As many weights and measures administrators and officials retire, it is important to incorporate their wisdom, gained through experience, into this document. Therefore, the reader is invited to submit comments on any section within this document. To submit questions or comments, please contact Carol Hockert.
