Wendy Davis is on a mission to develop a color quality scale to improve LED and CFL lighting

Conversation With Wendy Davis

Remember CFLs — the light bulbs which got the reputation for turning skin tones green? Well, things have come a long way since the first generation of CFLs hit the market. Wendy Davis, a scientist in the Optical Technology Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is on a mission to developed the color quality scale, which better corresponds to our real-world experience of lighting. (Makers of light bulbs have discovered we want to go green — not look green.) Spoking with Wendy at the NIST Vision Lab.
