ASQ India Forms Alliance with Top Government Academy

Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India, Sept. 19, 2011 — ASQ India and a government-operated training and research institute have signed a memorandum of understanding that will provide future Indian administrators the quality tools necessary to impact citizens’ quality of life.
As part of the agreement, ASQ India and the Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administration’s National Institute of Administrative Research (LBSNAA-NIAR), located in Mussoorie, India, will develop training programs, seminars, and events in India to promote modern concepts, methods, and techniques of best practices to enhance quality in government and public services. The agreement also will promote the application of Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, which is recognized worldwide as a best practice in total quality management.
LBSNAA-NIAR develops and conducts training and programs for the government, including working with senior civil service members who attend the academy to receive quality training. Kush Verma, director general of LBSNAA-NIAR, said the alliance will strengthen the government system and ensure quality services to the public. In addition, Verma said that through the memorandum of understanding, LBSNAA will emphasize to its students the importance of best practices and total quality management.
“This alliance—through the promotion of governance quality in India—supports ASQ’s global mission to diffuse quality and ethical practices deep into the civil society, which will strongly impact the quality of life,” said Amit Chatterjee, ASQ India managing director. “This agreement will positively impact the delivery systems of public services, education, and healthcare that affects all Indian citizens.”
The memorandum of understanding also will increase the global competitiveness of financial institutions, insurance companies and other related government agencies in India through training programs that, according to Chatterjee, will promote “the concepts of competitive quality in a positive manner.”
