Milwaukee, Wis., Feb. 6, 2012 — Building relationships with business throughout China, serving members and becoming the country’s leading quality solution provider are among the goals of Fred Zhang, ASQ’s recently appointed general manager of ASQ China.
Based in Milwaukee, Wis., USA, ASQ is a global community of experts and the leading authority on quality in all fields, organizations and industries. In addition to offices in the United States and China, ASQ also operates offices in Mexico and India. ASQ has nearly 80,000 members worldwide.
“Quality is of the utmost importance, and ASQ China has the tools and expertise to maximize quality at businesses throughout the country,” Zhang said. “We are the solution provider to any problem related to quality.”
In addition to building relationships and becoming the leading quality solutions provider, Zhang wants to increase awareness of the organization and show the benefits of earning ASQ certifications. Zhang also will focus on training opportunities for business and proactively seek memberships of companies with facilities in China, all the while providing exceptional services to ASQ members in China.
Before joining ASQ, Zhang served in multiple roles for BV Certification China, including director for its Greater China Region, leading the team to provide management certification service in quality, environmental, health and safety, and social accountability fields.
With a background in aviation engineering, Zhang spent more than two years in the United States working for Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, Calif. Zhang also worked for Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute as senior engineer and director of the Aerodynamic Design and Aircraft Division.
“Fred’s extensive background in engineering and quality make him uniquely qualified for this position,” said John T. Fowler, managing director for ASQ Global. “Not only does he have the knowledge to succeed, but he also has the ambition to provide great service to the people of China.”
Zhang is based at ASQ China’s Shanghai office.
