Baldrige Is the Key
With the U.S. military honor guard proudly presenting the American flag and U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson welcoming attendees, the 2010 and 2011 Baldrige Award recipients were honored last night. Each recipient, representing all sectors of the U.S. economy, shared the honor with its employees and highlighted the value of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence in improving results for all customers, patients, and students.
Ken Schiller, owner of K&N Management, summed up Baldrige as “the key to winning results and world-class excellence. . . . The Baldrige Criteria helped turn our vision into reality.” Since receiving the Baldrige Award, Schiller said organizations representing over half a million employees and $51 billion dollars in revenue have benefited from benchmarking the developer of fast-casual restaurant concepts Rudy’s “Country Store” & Bar-B-Q and the creator of Mighty Fine Burgers, Fries and Shakes, located in the Austin, Texas, area.
“The Baldrige Criteria challenged us to become leaders by any measure, and we succeeded, seeing productivity, customer loyalty, employee engagement, and financial returns,” said Sam Liang, CEO and president of two-time Baldrige Award recipient MEDRAD, Inc., a Pennsylvania manufacturer that develops, markets, and services innovative, cost-efficient devices for diagnosing and treating diseases.
