VW recalls minivans due to engine shutoff risk

DETROIT (Reuters) - Volkswagen AG recalled more than 12,000 Routan minivans in the United States because of a defect that could allow the key to slip while driving, causing the engine to shut down without warning.
The 12,612 minivans were manufactured from October 2009 through June 2010, according to a posting on the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration website on Thursday.
